Documentation of my first week with this site...
It's been a week since I launched my website on Web3, but I'm still facing challenges getting it operational, which raises questions about its practicality. Unlike user-friendly platforms such as Shopify or Wix in Web 2, I had to manually code the design and features using Visual Studio Code, which was the fun part.
However, the real challenge arose when I attempted to host my content using Pinata and create a hash for it. I encountered difficulties redirecting the link to HTML through Unstoppable Domains because the necessary functions are only accessible via their upgraded extension via Chromes.
Today, Dubai's ambition has squarely landed on cryptocurrency. The driving force behind this revolution is Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC. He launched the dedicated DMCC Crypto Centre, which has exploded to host over 600 crypto companies in just a few short years since 2021. This growth was fueled by the creation of specific DMCC crypto licenses catering to diverse activities like trading, custody, development, and advisory services.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to receive a one-time code for logging in through this extension due to Unstoppable Domains experiencing server issues with Hotmail. Since my crypto wallet and domain are linked to my Hotmail address, switching email providers isn't an option right now. In summary, although I'm eager to share my completed website with my followers, it's been a week without a successful launch.
Additionally, every time I update my site's content, I need to re-upload the HTML files through Pinata and relaunch the site. This process is cumbersome and currently lacks any streamlined method due to its decentralized nature, which adds layers of security and promotes greater autonomy but complicates functionality.
My initial experience with Web3 and hosting a decentralized website has not been particularly smooth, leading me to question its overall convenience and usability. Overall, while there are obstacles and the complexity can be discouraging, I am still excited to explore dApps and machine learning tools for the experiences in virtual environments in the future. I share the curiosity many have about how Web3 will evolve for users and hope to see its advantages unfold as it develops.
